Free Swim

Sedona typically hosts an annual 4th of July “Wet Fest,” which features music, games, a swimming pool, a water slide, and more. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the big patriotic party has been canceled in favor of a smaller affair. If you’re still looking to get wet and cool off, you can pre-register online to join in at a free swim time at the community pool. There will be a festive red, white, and blue atmosphere full of fun to keep you in a patriotic mood throughout the event.

Winery Tour

Celebrate the independence of our country by buying and experiencing local businesses and amenities. Sedona’s unique climate of desert heat during the day and low temperatures of northern Arizona at night make it a great environment for wine making. Due to these conditions, over 20 wineries now call the Sedona area home. Make your way along the Valley Verde Wine Trail with a special tour or create your own fun. Enjoy a tasting, then make sure to buy a bottle or two to enjoy during other patriotic activities. However you choose to tour, make sure you have safe transportation between venues.

Verde Canyon Railroad

See the area in a way you can’t on foot or by rental car. Conductors on the Verde Canyon Railroad yell “All Aboard!” throughout the year, but they’ll be throwing a patriotic party on the 4th. Take in the red rock scenery on the “All-American Family Rail Adventure” when you board the “Firecracker Express” for the tour of breathtaking mountain scenery. You’ll learn about the area’s history, geology, archaeology, ancestry, animals, plants, and more that make up what you see. Come early on the 4th to see a live bald eagle and other birds at the depot before departure. If you enjoy yourself, there are other themed tours like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day as well as the regular itinerary.
