The ride will be full of goodies, ghost stories, and of course the beautiful scenery of the Verde Canyon and surrounding area. Wear your costume for a chance to win the costume contest. Trunk or Treat

For a safe and fun way to collect treats, stop by the Sedona United Methodist Church. Wear your costume and collect sweets and treats from the trunks of cars and trucks that have been decorated in their own Halloween best. The free event takes place on Halloween night from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

Trick or Treat

Put on your costume, gather your candy-collecting gear, and head to Uptown Sedona. Their annual Safe & Fun Trick or Treat features sweets and treats from local participating merchants. There’s a community dance performance and many other activities to enjoy. Trick or treating takes place October 31 from 5-8 p.m.

Haunted History

Arizona has plenty of haunted history. Learn about it on the spookiest day of the year at the Sedona Heritage Museum. Join Michael Peach for “Peoria’s Runaway Pumpkin,” “Little Bill” – the story of the unsolved murder of Bill Redericks at the Van Deren cabin, “The Hauntings of the Red Ghost” – a true story of a 19th century Arizona monster, “The Cactus Killer” – a tale about murder and revenge in the Arizona desert, and “The Ghosts of Wilson Canyon” – the story of the death of a bear hunter in 1885. Peach’s presentation starts at 3:00 p.m. on October 31 and costs $6 per person.

Día de los Muertos Celebration

Día de los Muertos is the Mexican tradition of honoring friends and family who have passed away. Sedona’s celebration of the event includes a full day of fire dancing, food, music, and much more. Place personal memorabilia on the beautiful alters in celebration of your loved ones who have passed. Children’s activities include face painting and many other fun activities, and costumes are highly encouraged. Taste delicious and traditional Day of the Dead food by El Mercado. The all-day event takes place Saturday, October 30. Celebrate at 336 State Route 179.

Red Rock Scenic Byway

Pack up the rental car with everything you’ll need for a good time sightseeing and taking in the fall colors. SR-179, better known in the area as The Red Rock Scenic Byway, is a short trip that can last all day. The byway itself only measures ten miles in length, but with the many scenic pull-off points along the route, you can be out all day. Marvel at the towering red rocks, fall colors, and breathtaking view of Red Rock Country. Cruise the byway at sunset as the colors glow while the sun sets below the rocky vistas. Don’t forget to stop by the Coconino National Forest visitor’s center for maps of local hiking and biking trails if you’re looking for exercise as well as a pretty drive.

Other Activities

There are many activities to experience and enjoy on your Sedona getaway. Sedona is known for its wineries, distilleries, and breweries. Designate a driver and go on a tasting tour of the area. Take a helicopter tour and see the area as the birds do or go off-road and experience the red rock terrain from a different perspective.
