Sedona Adventures Journey for the Adventure Seeker

HomeAbout SedonaJourneys to SedonaSedona Adventures Journey for the Adventure Seeker

We all know that certain someone that spends their life seeking something a little extra, wanting cars that go faster, activities that make their hearts skip a beat, and needs that gasp that occurs every time they discover something new, exciting, adventuresome. If that adventure seeker is you, a vacation in Sedona will give you the thrills you need, even as our I Love Sedona sanctuaries provide the comforts you crave. This guide to a Sedona adventure seeker’s journey in red rock country will give you everything you are looking for and so much more!

Day 1: The View from Above

The one area you may not want “adventure” is in the culinary environment, so while you are experiencing the thrills noted here, we will keep restaurant suggestions relatively tame. Start out your first day in Sedona with a hearty breakfast enjoyed at HP Café, 269 N State Route 89A, perhaps finding an extra thrill from enjoying your biscuits and gravy on the patio offering stunning views and a waterfall for an added touch of serenity.

After the last crumb has been devoured and your final sips of mimosa have been gulped down, it is time to turn your attention to the skies, as the first thrill on our list is a helicopter ride from Sedona Helicopter, (877) 546-2099. Offering a variety of tours that give guests a bird’s eye view of the stunning red rock landscape, their Secret Wilderness flight takes visitors off the beaten flight line, while their Ancient Sedona flight examines the sites where the Native Americans walked, loved, and lived so many thousands of years ago.

At the end of your first day in Sedona, a celebration of food and travel can be enjoyed with a Southwestern style meal at Elote, located at 350 Jordan Road.

Day 2: Extreme Jeep®

Jeep® tours are quite the rage in Sedona, but the ones offered by Sedona Offroad Adventures take the tours to the next level with their Cliff Hanger Trail Tour. Hummers are in their element during this wild tour, scrambling over the cliffs of the area in much the way the natives who lived here a millennia or more ago once did, only with a lot more horsepower involved! Taking travelers to where views of Cathedral Rock are best, you may not be afraid of heights, but when the colorful vehicle is literally crawling down one sheer drop, then up another, may have you holding extra tight to the handles and saying silent thanks that your seatbelt is securely fastened.

With adrenaline coursing through your veins with these Sedona outdoor adventures, the toast and coffee you enjoyed for breakfast in the comfort of your I Love Sedona escape will long be a memory, so we suggest a large meal from Mesa Grill Sedona, will be the logical next step. Located at the Sedona airport and offering mega-portions of Carolina Pulled Pork Barbecue, this local grill is up to the challenge of conquering the largest of appetites. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and supper, so why not return on another day to sample those menus as well?

Day 3: All the Fun on Two Wheels

The only problem with the first two Sedona adventures listed here is that for a few brief stops on the Cliff Hanger Trail Tour, there isn’t much opportunity to get out and get close to nature, something the mountain bikers in our midst will not be happy about. Fortunately, mountain biking is a popular Sedona activity, with a variety of tours being offered as well as tons of opportunities available for those who don’t appreciate the group mentality of a tour.

Hermosa Tours provides tours for mountain bikers of all experience levels, tours that start at 2.5 hours or longer if you can’t get enough. Also offering bike rentals for an additional fee, riders won’t have to waste time exploring what the bike shops of Sedona offer, being able to get everything they need and start riding immediately. For those who want to do it on their own, Thunder Mountain Bikes, 1695 AZ-89A, offers a large selection of bikes and equipment for rent, and nearly every hiking trail in the county is also open for mountain bikers!

However long you choose to spend your day on the trails, a big meal at Open Range Grill & Tavern, 320 N State Route 89A, promises to be the perfect way to end your adventures in Sedona, serving large meals and offering stunning views of the trails you may have just conquered.
