What Is the Verde Valley Wine Trail?

That is an excellent question, one we are VERY glad you have asked. The Verde Valley Wine Trail brings visitors the opportunity to explore 26 area wineries, including one right here in Sedona, giving guests a taste of Arizona. But what if you fall in love with a specific type? Do you need to keep visiting Sedona every time your stash of Sedona wine runs out? As much as we would enjoy your company in our Sedona sanctuaries, we understand how expensive that could be, and can reassure you that most of the wineries offer online stores, allowing you to order your favorites from the comfort of your own recliner back home. Our tour of the Wine Trail begins with the wineries found in Camp Verde, located just 27 miles south of Sedona. Don’t forget to download your passport found here.

Alcantara is a family-owned business that has brightened the lives of countless wine drinkers since opening in 2004. They do offer an online store.

Salt Mine Wines, 536 W Salt Mine Road

Salt Mine Wines consider themselves a boutique winery, which really just means they are a small establishment. Opened by two brothers in 2013, they are currently growing six Italian varietals, with more being offered as each year passes. There is no online store, and their tasting room is the only place you can purchase their wine.

Clear Creek Vineyard & Winery, 4053 AZ-260

Clear Creek Vineyard is a sustainable business, as the owner uses geese and chickens to manage bugs and weeds, not needing to use chemicals, so you can feel good about sipping their wares. They offer an outdoor patio and an online store.

Clarkdale Wineries

Clarkdale was originally a copper-smelting company town for the employees of Jerome, but today, it is known for the three wonderful wineries that are on the Verde Valley Wine Trail. Located just 50 miles south of Sedona, the road trip you take along 89A will be scenic and serene.

There is a wine club, but no online store.

Cornville Wineries

The town of Cornville does not offer any corn fields—the name comes from one of the earliest settlers of town—but it does offer five different renowned wineries, three of which we will discuss here, that will make you forget all about the corn.

Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery, 1565 N Page Springs Road

Javelina Leap doesn’t just offer a cool name, it is fast becoming one of the best-known wineries in the state. Offering joy in the bottle with every sip, they do offer an online shop, but be sure to visit their gift shop when you stop by, as it is full of all kinds of cool things that will make an excellent souvenir from your adventures.

Pillsbury Wine Company, 315 S Willard Street

Offering tasting rooms in both Cottonwood and Willcox, Pillsbury Wine Company is known for making what they call food wines, not cocktail wines, and their vineyards are acclaimed for their sustainability. Jerome Wineries

Jerome has the second highest number of wineries, coming in at six wonderful places, but as we have done above, we are going to concentrate on just three. Just remember to explore all the wineries on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, getting stamps on your passport and then uploading it for the chance to win prizes.

The Original Jerome Winery, 114 Jerome Avenue

If the views don’t make your heart skip a beat, the wines served at the Original Jerome Winery certainly will. Using grapes culled from their Willcox vineyard, this spot has dominated the Jerome wine landscape since 2001. It offers an online shop.

Wineries in Sedona AZ

We bet you were wondering if we were ever going to get around to our I Love Sedona’s hometown, but rest assured, in our humble opinions, we were saving the best for last! There is just one winery in our magical red rock town, but it is definitely our favorite, and worth the buildup.

Winery 1912, 320 AZ-89A

The wines are stunning, and the views of the Sedona landscape are breathtaking, framed to perfection by a wall of windows that takes up the entire back wall of the winery. Named for the year Arizona became a state and serving wines made entirely from Arizona-grown grapes, their online store is a comprehensive one, and many Arizona retail shops sell bottles of their silky wines. They also offer a small bites menu that will be much enjoyed.
